For this assignment, we were tasked with creating a complex prop in the form of a cannon. I found a cannon that I really liked created by Vladimir Manzenko. The intricate work along the entirety of the cannon was something I really wanted to achieve in my own work.

One Shot?!
ReplyDelete1 shot? It looks cool I'd say to add wood detail on the part of the wheels that have wood and differentiate the wood from the metal on the wheels as well.
ReplyDeletethere's a lack of detail on a lot of the parts, it just looks like smooth clay right now for the wheels and the wood as well, lacking texture.
ReplyDeleteYour cannon is feeling a little tooooo smooth, I feel like some added texture to the wheels and metal would go along way, especially since you have such a detailed reference, rough 'em up
ReplyDeleteEverything feels a bit too smooth. The wheels feel too clean. It is also missing a lot of elements from the reference, like a lot of metal pieces.
ReplyDeleteYour sculpt is very clean, I like how you carved the wood. My critique would be to maybe sculpt wood into the wheels as well.
ReplyDeleteYour sculpitng hand is very light. You're gonna have to dig deeper with your dam standard brush to really make the details pop. Also would like to see more details like edge damage, scratches, noise etc on the wheels and the cannon.
ReplyDeleteOne shot? Missing detail on the wheels. I like the wood detail you did but not compressed enough. Good shapes.
ReplyDeleteI like how you maintain the clean shapes and silhouettes. However, I do think that there are a lot of textures that can be implemented more. The wood looks a bit too soft as well.
ReplyDeleteI love the sculpt and the details. Everything looks clean! If you add more details for the wheels it would look better. Great work!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey there! For the cannon wheel edges, they look a little soft. Your reference image has softer edges, but maybe if you could sharpen them just a tiny bit and it will look good. I would have loved to see more angle shots to match with some of the reference images. Your metal parts are looking good, would like to see the wood match in the quality as well. Otherwise, good start!
ReplyDeleteBesides only having 1 shot, I think that the wheels look very clean and need details. The cannon looks great though! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteHi Tristan! I really like the detail you've got so far. The placard on the end is awesome. I'd like to see a bit more detail worked into the wheels to match the base. Will you be adding the chains on the sides too? The fact that you sculpted this with a trackpad is WILD. Very impressive work using that!
